Another barangay chairman shot dead
THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office has formed a special investigation task group (SITG) to investigate and determine the identity of the suspects behind the killing of a barangay chairman in Bautista town.
According to P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, police provincial director, the SITG will investigate the murder of Richard Baricuatro Roldan, 44, village chief of Zone 2 Poblacion in Bayambang.
Police said Roldan was riding his motorcycle along Barangay Quetegan in nearby Bautista town when he was waylaid by suspects on board a gray SUV.
P/Captain Rodelio Labiano, Bautista police chief, said that he was on the way to Alcala to take care of a personal business.
“It seems that he (Roldan) was followed by the suspects riding in an SUV and shot the victim”, said Labiano.
Before succumbing to his wounds at the Region 1 Medical Center, Roldan was able to describe the vehicle while he was being treated initially at a hospital in Bayambang.
“He received a fatal wound in this abdomen”, said Labiano. Authorities recovered an empty cartridge of caliber .45.
Authorities are conducting follow-up operations at presstime. (Ahikam Pasion/Nora Dominguez)
