THE Region 1 Medical Center has declared the patient under investigation (PUI) admitted on February 10 negative of infection of the novel Corona Virus 2019 (CoViD-19).

R1MC Director Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia said the results of the swab tests arrived Thursday afternoon from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and the results are negative.

The 28-year old female from Lingayen town was admitted after she submitted herself for tests afraid that she was suffering flu-like symptoms similar to victims of CoViD-19.

“She said that she had already been experiencing the symptoms as early as February 4, before flying to Taiwan”, said Mejia. The patient arrived from Taiwan on February 8, feeling worse.

Mejia suspected that the victim suffered an upper respiratory tract infection which is normal with the current cold climate but was worsened due to the patient’s stress and travel overseas.

As of writing, Mejia said that the patient is on the road to recovery. She is set to be discharged in a few days once she reaches 100% recovery.

Kaunting pag-ubo na lang ang nararanasan niya, pero over-all she is okay,” Mejia added. (Ahikam Pasion)
