WATCH out for the Bicycle Patrol Cops in tourist destinations recently organized by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) to bolster its crime prevention program.

Twenty police officers (10 male and 10 female) led by P/Major Arnold Soriano were issued twenty bicycles with helmets and vests donated by the Public Safety Savings Loan Association (PSSLAI), began their patrol duties after launching the bicycle patrol cops aprogram at the Baywalk at the Capitol Beach Front in Lingayen town.

According to P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, PPPO director, the bicycle patrol cops will be visible to improve crime prevention in tourist spots where cars and motorcycles are not allowed, like Baywalk and in preparation for the summer break.

The concept of the project is patterned after the bicycle police patrols in Los Angeles California, Maranan said.

In addition to the Baywalk, Bicycle Patrol Cops will be deployed along Daang Kalikasan in Mangatarem while it is still closed. (Nora Dominguez)
