APPLICANTS for issuance and renewal of student permits and driver’s licenses need not worry anymore, as a satellite office here has been opened to cater solely for them.

The new satellite office Dagupan City District Office of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), located at the BHF Family Plaza in Barangay Mayombo, began processing applications for regular and student driver’s licenses last Wednesday.

LTO-1 Regional Director Teofilo Guadiz III said the satellite office was opened to unclog the volume of processing in its district office.

The satellite office, the second to open in the region, will also include an accredited medical clinic for examinations for applicants.

Urdaneta City also opened its own satellite office at the CB Mall.

Meanwhile, Guadiz announced that the new rules for the issuance of driver’s licenses has been postponed to March this year owing to shortage of facilities.

Last year, the LTO head office released a memorandum circular that requires new procedures that includes driving instruction seminar hours for each type of license. 15 hours of theoretical road safety seminar for student license applicants, and eight hours of hands-on training – before undergoing the written and practical exams.

For the first renewal of a license with a five-year validity, the LTO will require a minimum of eight hours theoretical driving classroom seminars.

The seminars for the succeeding renewals will depend on the number of demerits a driver incurred. (Ahikam Pasion)
