Pangasinan brings relief goods to Batangas

A convoy of 12 vehicles of the provincial government brought food and non-food relief items last Wednesday for the residents of Batangas who were displaced by the eruption of the Taal Volcano.

Provincial information officer Orpheus Velasco said the 12 vehicles delivered 100 sacks rice; 20,000 pieces canned goods; 3,470 family food packs; 1,225 pieces of bottled waters; and (non-food items) 864 pieces of bath soap; 288 pieces toothbrush; 900 pieces alcohol, 600 pieces face towel; 170 pieces 2-ply rolls tissues; 96 pieces 1-ply rolls tissue; 840 pieces shampoo; 150 packs hygiene kits; 100 packs of soap powder; and 500 pieces of blankets.

The relief team was led by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Rhodyn Lunchinvar Oro, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office chief Emil Samson, and former 5th district Board Member Clemente Arboleda, arrived in Batangas on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Lingayen town officials have launched a donation campaign among the residents, particularly nebulizers, N95 face masks, asthma medicines, canned goods or foods in tetra packs, clothes, blanket, and bottled water.

“This weekend we arranged the transfer of the first batch of donations to the affected residents in Batangas,” said Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil. (Helen Martin)
