NEW YEAR REVELRY

THE revelry that marked the start of 2020 gave the Region 1 police director a reason to be happy – not one police officer under his command violated PNP national leadership’s order to prohibit indiscriminate and illegal discharge of their issued firearms.

In his Monday flag-raising ceremony message at the Police Regional Office in Camp Oscar Florendo, La Union, Police Brig. Gen. l Joel Orduña thanked and congratulated all the men and women under his command for a job well done in 2019 especially during the New Year’s celebration and their demonstration of dedication to serve their respective communities.

He said through their vigilance in strictly enforcing the ban on manufacture, sale and use of illegal firecrackers, only 43 cases were recorded as firecracker-related incidents in the region.

Orduña urged communities to welcome 2020 “with more energy and enthusiasm and a positive frame of mind.”

He called on the region’s police force to join him in making delivery of public safety services to the people of Region 1more effective. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
