THE Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office (SDO) 1 of Pangasinan is all set to host the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet in Lingayen on February 19 -26 here.

Dr. Sheila Marie Primicias, Pangasinan I Superintendent, said that repairs in schools to be utilized as billeting areas are nearing completion.

“The schools will host some 10,000 delegates 14 SDOs in the region., 80 percent of which are student-athletes, the rest are officials and coaches”. said Primicias.

To make things memorable for athletes, Primicias said delegates, will remember this year’s theme that will focus on childhood.

“For the opening program, the schools will set up cartoon-themed stalls with mascots”, said Primicias.

Among the proposed cartoon displays are Sesame Street, Toy Story, Hello Kitty, Marvel, Barney and Friends, Safari, Beauty and the Beast, Ben10, Avengers, Justice League, Carnival, Star Wars, Frozen, Minions, and Transformer, she said.

The delegates will also enjoy free amusement rides such as bump cars and carousels.

Meanwhile, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) said the security plans for the place and the delegates are in place.

In the radio program Usapang Pulis aired over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan, P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, provincial director, said policemen will be deployed in billeting areas and event sites earlier than the event proper to provide security.

“Aside from providing security, we will also focus on overcharging tricycle drivers. We will make sure that our guests are not taken advantage of”, said Maranan. (Ahikam Pasion)
