THE Alaminos City government donated P500,000 each to the municipality of Makilala and Kidapawan City in Cotabato province devastated by series of earthquakes this year.

“The assistance is on its way to Mindanao (Cotabato) and will be delivered first thing this weekend,” said Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste, in a phone interview Friday.

The donation, sourced from the trust fund of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, can be used to support both the post disaster recovery and rehabilitation efforts.

He said the resolution granting the financial assistance to the quake-struck areas was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod last week.

The resolution said “Many times in the past, the city also rose and recovered from the devastating typhoons because of the Alaminian’s resilience and bayanihan spirit. In those trying times, the city government was also very grateful for all the assistance extended to them by the national government, LGUs and benevolent groups and individuals. Now, with a happy heart, it’s the Alaminians and its local government’s turn to give back and pay it forward.
