2018 Le Tour de Filipinas champion Joshua Cariño of Mangaldan and 2018 Ronda Pilipinas winner Ronald Oranza of Villasis were selected to join the Philippine six-man national squad to represent the country in the 2019 Southeast Asia Games slated on November 30 to December 11.
two Pangasinan riders will be joined by two-time Ronda Pilipinas titleholder
Jan Paul Morales, George Oconer and John Mark Camingao of Metro Manila and
Junrey Navara of Mindanao. The six will compete in individual and team road
races as well as individual and team trial events.
Oranza said he expects stiff competition from riders from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam but he said the Philippine team will have an edge because of their familiarity of the Tagaytay City terrain where the road events will be conducted. Other countries participating are Myanmar, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia and Timor Este. (Jesus Garcia, Jr.)
