LTO campaigns for C.A.R.S. among young motorists

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) Ilocos regional office is conducting road safety seminars targeting the young people in the region for its CARS (Creating Advocates for Road Safety) project.

LTO-1 regional director Teofilo Guadiz III said CARS project is a nationwide road safety advocacy of the LTO.

“There is paradigm shift from (us being) apprehending officers to road safety advocates to minimize road accidents or violence on the road,” he explained citing the increasing number of motorcycle accidents among young people ages 18 to 29.

“From Aug. to Oct. this year, out of the 787 road crashes, 655 persons involved belonged to the 29 years old below age-group, ”Guadiz further said. LTO conducted seminars in Bayambang and Rosales towns. This week the seminar will be held in Lingayen. (Helen Martin)
