THE  findings of the Land Transportation Office in the region that most vehicular accidents in Pangasinan involved motorcycles and young riders was confirmed by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO).

However, PNP Provincial Director P/Col. Redrico Maranan noted that while there is a decreasing number in eight focused crimes such as murder, homicide, robbery, physical injury, carnapping, motornaping, rape and theft in Central Pangasinan towns ( Lingayen, Binmaley, Aguilar, Bugallon, Urbiztondo, Basista and Mangatarem), vehicular accidents involving motorcycles are on the rise.

He said enforcement of traffic laws and ordinances are being intensified in cooperation with local governments, DPWH and LTO to reduce the increasing number of road accidents, according to Maranan.

The campaign to strictly enforce national law on wearing helmets and stop unlicensed riders are being intensified. (Nora Dominguez)
