THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) urged employers to give their employees their 13th month pay on time in order to avoid penalties.

Agnes Aguinaldo of DOLE Central Pangasinan said that the distribution of the 13th month pay can be done this month but not after December 24.

According to DOLE, regular and contractual employees who are working at least one month, are entitled to the 13th month pay. Commission-based employees, however, are excluded from the provision.

She clarified that after paying 13th month pays, employers are not mandated to pay bonuses.

“The law only states of the 13th month pay as mandatory. Bonuses and other incentives depend on the management”, Aguinaldo added. (Ahikam Pasion)
