Successful 13th Sari-sari Store Fair ends today
SMALL businessmen and thousands of ordinary
folks took advantage of the many deals and discounts offered at the the
four-day CSI 13th Sari-sari Store Fair that ends today Oct. 20 at the CSI Stadia
in Barangay Lucao in Dagupan City.
Former Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez led officials of top brands of
grocery items at the opening ceremonies of the fair witnessed by exhibitors
that opened with the rhythmic lion dance.
“Through this Sari-sari Store Fair,
we give storeowners big discounts so they can earn higher,” Fernandez said.
The fair provided important negosyo
(business) sessions for hundreds of sari-sari store owners and would-be
investors of this micro-enterprise where they learned new ways to run their
sari-sari stores efficiently and to explore into other financially rewarding
ventures.
Fernandez said it was through her
family’s City Grocery, a small grocery store in this city where she learned the
nitty-gritty of the business and soon became the chief executive
officer/president of the CSI Group of Companies that operates CSI Malls in
Pangasinan, La Union and other provinces before she entered politics.
“We do not only help our consumers, we also sustain the livelihood of our sari-sari store owners,” she added.
Meanwhile, Department of Trade and
Industry Regional Director Grace Baluyan lauded CSI for its noble annual undertaking
for small entrepreneurs.
Baluyan said when sari-sari store owners are given access to lower-priced products,
they pass this on to consumers at a lower price, too and expressed hope that it
will be replicated in other provinces. (PhilStar
