Red Cross Pangasinan trains barangay volunteers
LINGAYEN – Volunteers from different barangays here attended the Red Cross 143 Training on October 11, at the evacuation center compound.
The event was presided by Mayor Leopoldo N. Bataoil and Vice Mayor Judy Vargas, Red Cross 143 Chairman and board director of Red Cross Pangasinan Chapter.
In her keynote message, the vice mayor said the training was conducted to help deliver effective and fast emergency response in cases of emergency and calamities,
Robert John Canilang, a CSR Red Cross Youth Volunteer, said Red Cross 143, trains people to be active in their communities and to have 44 volunteers in each barangay that will serve as eyes, ears, hands, and feet of the organization in the community for disaster preparedness and response particularly during flood, quakes, volcanic eruptions, fire, landslide, etc. (Melody Valenton)
