THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office has rolled out its security plans for the Undas 2019 or holiday break on November 1 to 2.

P/ Colonel Redrico Maranan, provincial director, in an exclusive interview with the PUNCH, said more than 1,200 policemen will  be deployed in main thoroughfares especially in the roads leading to and pro the  cemeteries in towns and cities.

He said there are 218 cemeteries and bus terminals that will be secured and Highway Public Assistance Desks (Hi-PADs) will be positioned on highways and major roads in the province.

Police stations have been ordered to strictly implement the Oplan Balik Disiplina sa Kalsada that was launched last June to help keep order in the streets and highways.  It will include strict enforcement of rules for motorcycle riders. i.e. use of helmets and rear view mirrors, signal lights and headlights.

He said since the launch of the ‘Oplan Balik Disiplina sa Kalsada’ last June, the incidence of road accidents in the province decreased.

Based on comparative reports, there were 216 deaths from road accidents in January to October of 2018, down to 209 cases this year over the same period this year.

The reported number of physical injuries due to road accidents dropped from 3,007 last year to 2,419 this year, while damage to property decreased from 3,943 incidents last year to only 2,503 this year.

Maranan also warned residents that crimes against property are usually high because homeowners leave their houses for vacation.

Meanwhile, P/Lt. Colonel Norman Florentino, deputy police provincial director for operations, said Pangasinan PNP will showcase its “best practices” that will include free phone call, and text and free water to the public.
