Medics, Warriors draw first blood

4th POGI Sportsfest 2019

BASKETBALL teams of Medics and Warriors earned their first victory against their nemesis – Legislators and Financiers, respectively, after the fourth edition of the Pagalaw tan Olopan ed Gobyerno Itanduro (POGI) Sportsfest reeled off on October 15 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Gymnasium.

Medics subdued Legislators in a lopsided match after a 57-point advantage at the end of the game, 113-56, while Warriors trounced Financiers with an 11-point advantage in the fourth canto, 103-92.

During the opening ceremonies, Gov. Amado Espino III, in his message to the provincial government’s employees, said the Capitol sportsfest reminded them of the importance of keeping themselves fit and healthy as he cited their valuable efforts and contributions for the sustained development of the province.

 An added feature this year will be a cheer dance competition during closing ceremonies of the sportsfest.

The sportsfest schedule: badminton (every Tuesday and Thursday); basketball (every Tuesday); chess (every Tuesday and Thursday); shootfest for men and women (Nov. 29); dance sports (Nov. 20); duathlon (Dec. 4); tug of war (every Tuesday and Thursday); table tennis (every Tuesday and Thursday); unity fun run (Dec. 11); and volleyball for men and women (every Thursday).

The eight teams are:: Financiers (violet color): offices of assessor, ’accounting, treasury, budget, library, legal, veterinary and agriculture, social welfare and development and environment and natural resources staffs; Benchmark (red color): provincial hospitals staffs; Legislators (green): vice governor, board members and secretariat staffs; Urduja (gray): governor’s staff an executive assistant III staffs; Medics (pink): offices of health, population; district and community hospitals in Manaoag, Mapandan, Asingan, Umingan, and Pozorrubio;

Generals (orange): general services and NRSCC staff; Warriors (yellow): provincial administrator, management information services, human resource management and development, housing and urban development, special events, disaster risk reduction and management, employment, Capitol resort hotel, tourism and cultural affairs, planning and development, warden, information office, bids and awards committee staffs; and Builders (blue): engineering staff.
