LINGAYEN – The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) here has reported a 21% decrease in index crime volume.

P/Major Dexter Relatado, who represented the Provincial Director P/Col. Redrico Maranan, bared the police accomplishments during the recent joint meeting of the Pangasinan Peace and Order Council and Pangasinan Anti-Drug Abuse Council presided by Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino, who represented Governor Amado I. Espino III.

Relatado said the improvement was the result of the Oplan Balik Disiplina sa Kalsada, an aggressive anti-criminality drive in the province.

Index crimes involve crimes against persons such as murder, homicide, physical injury, and rape; and against property like robbery, car theft, and cattle rustling.

Relatado said index crime in the province from January 1 to September 25 this year was 1,160 cases, compared to 1,481 cases in 2018 of the same period.

Meanwhile, traffic incidents have decreased by 26.84%, from 6,423 cases in 2018 down to 4,691 cases this year.

Relatado also bared the significant increase in crime solution efficiency of the Pangasinan PPO citing 80.45% crime solution efficiency, an improvement from the 5.40% last year.

The Pangasinan PPO pledged to further intensify its efforts to maintain peace and order and will report on it next quarter. (Ahikam Pasion/PIO)
