GOVERNOR Amado I. Espino III will sign the amendment letter to the memorandum of agreement earlier entered into and signed between the Province of Pangasinan and the Philippine Business for Social Progress, Inc. for the intensification of tuberculosis control program in the province.

The Pangasinan provincial board unanimously approved Provincial Resolution No. 221-2019 authorizing Espino to sign the letter an amendment letter to the MOA for the implementation of the global fund project called “Intensifying and Mainstreaming Integrated DOTS in the Philippines.”

Board Member Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario, who authored the resolution, said the amendment is necessary to conform with Republic Act No. 10173 or the “Data Privacy Act of 2012.”

The resolution noted that Philippines takes the 15th spot in the “high-burdened” countries in the world based on the status of TB cases in the country which has a prevalence rate of 4.7 in 1,000 reported cases and multidrug-resistant rate of 3.9 in 1,000 reported cases.

Pangasinan earlier entered into and signed a MOA with the PBSP for the implementation of the programmatic management of drug-resistant tuberculosis project in the province. (PIO/SMDG)
