LINGAYEN–As far as Gov. Amado Espino III. is concerned, he is satisfied with the progress of the investigation being conducted by the Special Investigation Task Group Espino Jr. concerning the ambuscade of his father and his party on September 11 this year in San Carlos City.

“Oo naman, I am satisfied,” was Governor Espino’s response to a query by The PUNCH if he is satisfied with what the SITG has accomplished so far, but clarified it is his own opinion and would not speak for his father and other members of the Espino family.

SITG Espino Jr. has so far filed complaints of two counts of murder and frustrated murder against 12 suspects, 10 of whom are from Urbiztondo and 10 John Does that include the mastermind and the financiers.

However, none of the suspects has been arrested to date.

The governor told the Provincial Security Summit 2019 on Oct. 14 that the attempt on his father’s life was the first violent incident committed against a former governor and congressman of Pangasinan in the province’s history.

Kung nagtagumpay po sila at nakuha ang ama, who do you think they will kill next–the son who is the incumbent governor of Pangasinan?” he wondered.

“If the perpetrators can do this to a former governor and congressman, they can do this more to barangay captains,” he said. “We will not let these people just snap our heads with their fingers,” he added citing the significance of the security summit.

He said with the cooperation of the barangays, which are considered as the nation’s first line of defense, the violent incident such as what happened to his father and his companions can be prevented.

“Magtulungan tayo para sa katahimikan ng inyong probinsiya, lalo na ang inyong barangay,” Espino said. (Leonardo Micua)
