Barangay kapitan arrested for illegal possession of firearms

A BARANGAY chairman in Urbiztondo town was arrested for illegal possession of firearms after authorities raided his residence in Barangay Dalanguiring on the strength of a search warrant.

The combined elements of the Provincial Intelligence Branch, Provincial Investigation and Management Branch, Provincial Mobile Force Company and Urbiztondo Police raided the residence of 46-year-old Rocky Palisoc, barangay chairman of Brgy. Dalanguiring.

The team  recovered an unlicensed caliber 45,  magazine, and ammunition kept in a sling bag.

The suspect is now being held on a charge of violation of Republic Act 10591 or illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Meanwhile, Teofilo Ferrer, a former barangay chairman of Urbiztondo, and one of the suspects identified to be involved in the slay attempt of former Cong. Amado Espino Jr., is the subject of a manhunt for the illegal possession of a caliber 38 pistol and a grenade, during a raid conducted by the Urbiztondo Police and Provincial Intelligence Branch at his residence in Barangay Camambugan on the strength of a search warrant.  (Nora Dominguez)
