Asingan condo-type tomb building soon to rise

ASINGAN – The town’s government is set to construct a two-storey condominium-type tomb building to address the shortage of cemetery lots.

In a PUNCH interview with Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. Thursday afternoon, he said that the Asingan Municipal Cemetery – with a land area of one hectare only, is nearing full capacity.

Pati po yung private na sementeryo dito marami na ring laman”, said Lopez.

With the growing concern over lack of lots available, and failing to find another vacant suitable place, Lopez said building a structure that could house more than 300 bodies in a stacked format (apartment-type) remains the best option.

The proposed building design will include comfort rooms, and a viewing chapel on the ground floor. The chapel will also be equipped with quality amenities. The second floor, on the other hand, would house all tombs.

He said the town government has allocated P4 million for the construction and construction will begin as soon as the Sangguniang Panlalawigan confirms it.

“Sa tulong po ni Vice Governor Mark Lambino umaasa kami na maaprubahan na po ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan yung pagpapatayo”, he added.

Expecting the building to be completed in five months, he said the building may be used right away. (Ahikam Pasion)
