9th Int’l Deaf Day and 2nd Int’l Day of Sign Languages held

SOME 300 members of different deaf associations in the region, Benguet, Abra and the city of Baguio participated in the 9th International Deaf Day and 2nd International Day of Sign Languages held on September 28 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center.

Thanking the Philippine Federation of the Deaf led by its president Carolyn B. Dagani, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office chief Emilio Samson, Jr. said the governor has expressed elation that Pangasinan was chosen as the venue of the event, indicating the acknowledgment of the support of the provincial government for of the welfare of all persons with disability.

During the event, the deaf members of various groups prepared special numbers either dance or drama interpretation. Conveyed meanings were then interpreted by the focal persons present in the activity.

Serving as a respite among the members, fun games were conducted as highlights of the whole-day activity whose theme is anchored on “Sign Language Rights for All.”
