Transgender killed in Bolinao beach
BOLINAO – A male transgender here died after he was hacked several times.
Bolinao Police chief Major Dennis Cabigas, said that the body of the victim “Jessa” Remiendo was found stripped and mutilated along the shore of Brgy. Patar.
“Halos mahiwalay na yung ulo ng biktima sa katawan niya, at yung isang mata niya ay hiniwa. Karumal-dumal yung sinapit ng victim”, said Cabigas.
Remiendo, who was an employee of a nearby resort, was having a drinking spree with his friends, and left to meet someone. His mutilated body was found the next morning.
The police are currently looking out for a person of interest whom Remiendo was going to meet.
“Naka-phonebook yung pangalan, pero as of now wala pa tayong ibang pagkakakilanlan”, said Cabigas.
Meanwhile, Remiendo’s death sent a wave of fear throughout the members of LGBTQ+ in the province.
Noreen Barber, head of the United Pangasinan Association LGBTQ+, said in her Facebook post that this was the first time a member of said community was brutally murdered. She considers the killing of Remiendo a hate crime that targets the members of LGBTQ+. “Hangga’t dipa naipapasa ang SOGIE Bill tayo ay mananatiling ‘the most unprotected and neglected sector’ sa ating komunidad.”, Barber said in her post.
