LINGAYEN – An ordinance providing scholarships for poor but deserving students residing in the municipality is proposed in the Sangguniang Bayan here.

Councilor Jay Mark Crisostomo, Committee on Education chairperson, the proponent, said “An Ordinance Establishing a Scholarship Program through Financial Assistance in the Municipality of Lingayen, Pangasinan and Appropriating Funds Relative Thereto” will provide opportunities for Lingayenense students who are financially less fortunate but have high grades or performing very well academically to finish college education.

There will be an allowance of P5,000 per semester for the beneficiaries so a P1,000,000 fund will be allotted for it annually.

The ordinance is expected to be implemented in the following year after the approval of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. (Melody Valenton)
