Provl. govt. scheds events for Tourism Month celebration

THE provincial government through the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) has lined up several activities for this year’s Tourism Month which is celebrated on the month of September.

Hence, must-experience and much-awaited activities will highlight the month-long celebration.

Anchored under the United Nations World Tourism Organization theme, “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All,” the activities prepared by the PTCAO include the Mobile Skills Training for Tourism (Basic Wellness Massage) to be held in the cities of Urdaneta and Alaminos on September 16 to 19.

Another scheduled activity is the conduct of a whole-day Tourism Jobs Fair at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC) on September 25 wherein graduates of tourism-related courses will have an opportunity to acquire employment.

As disclosed by the PTCAO headed by its chief Ma. Luisa A. Elduayan, a three-day Tourism Enterprises Mobile DOT Accreditation will also be conducted on September 26 to 28 in Urdaneta City, Alaminos City and the capital town of Lingayen.

Serving as the highlight of the celebration is the inauguration of Casa Real on September 30 located at the heart of Lingayen town.

It can be learned that the provincial government funded P5 million for the initial restoration phase of the historic Casa Real while the Dept. of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shouldered P30 million for the second phase of the project.

Moreover, the provincial government received a grant amounting to P33.9 million from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) for the completion of the third phase of the royal edifice. The provincial government also earmarked another P10 million for the establishment of the Museo de Pangasinan after the completion of the royal house as Restoration Project. (Ruby R. Bernardino)
