Our Lady of Manaoag devotees brave monsoon rains

MAMA MARY’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION


MANAOAG – Despite the inclement weather, devotees filled  the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Manaoag to celebrate the Virgin Mary’s feast of nativity on September 8.

Josephine Trinidad, one of the devouts Catholics from Bulacan said she and her family have been visiting the shrine at least once a year because they believe the Lady of Manaoag  keeps them safe and prosperous all year long. Myrna Perez of San Carlos City came to pray for the healing of her son.

Thousands of visitor came to celebrate the Holy Mass in Her honor and paid homage to her by visiting the church’s museum that showcased images of the young Mary.

Authorities and police personnel were deployed to ensure the safety of over a thousand Catholics who came by.

The feast of Blessed Virgin Mary’s nativity was declared by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as a special working holiday. (Melody Valenton)
