Farmers groups get free farm machineries & projects

SOME 126 farmer groups and beneficiaries in Pangasinan recently received P621-million worth of farm machineries from the Department of Agriculture.

Agriculture Sec. William D. Dar led the turnover of 76 units of 4WD tractor, 31 combine harvesters, 64 hand tractors, 4 units riding types, 4 units of walk behind, 15 mobile dryers, 7 seed cleaners, 7 compact rice mills, 100 water pumps and 1 unit of hauling truck to Gov. Amado Espino III during the Stakeholders’ Forum held at the Sison Auditorium on August 31

Sec. Dar stressed to the the farmers that the farm interventions of the DA further is aimed at ensuring food security in the Philippines “with prosperous farmers” and assured them of fair and easier access to programs in agriculture.

Meanwhile, he announced that the National Food Authority will intensify procurement of palay from small and marginalized farmers.

Gov. Espino thanked the national government for the support that he said will surely boost the agricultural production in Pangasinan.

Espino exhorted all farmers and recipients of the machineries and equipment to ensure their proper maintenance to enable their long term use.

“Huwag po sana kayong magsawa na pagyabungin ang makakatulong sa ating agrikultura para maalagaan natin ang ating pamilya,” he urged farmers. (PIA/SMDG)
