TWENTY selected personnel from the Dagupan City Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) recently attended a traffic regulation seminar by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Regional Office, aimed to empower them to effectively apprehend traffic violators as deputized enforcers.

LTO Region 1 Director Teofilo Guadiz III said as deputized LTO agents, they have the authority to confiscate licenses and impound motor vehicles, especially colorum.

Years earlier, the LTO deputized agents from the POSO, had their authority recalled after reports of “kotong” activities involving the agents reached LTO.

POSO apprehends an average of 100 violators daily for driving without license, non-wearing of helmet, drunk driving, and use of modified mufflers. (Ahikam Pasion)
