Barangay kagawad under fire for entering cockfight arena
CALASIAO – The local government here is set to investigate a barangay kagawad of Poblacion West, after being caught on camera attending a cockfight.
Kagawad Eduardo ‘Poks’ Laforteza was seen in the videos making rounds in social media, inside a cockpit holding a fighting cock.
In the video, Laforteza gently rubs his fighting cock in the arena, then stripped down while dancing in the cockpit to the laughter of the crowd.
Marilou Geslani of Calasiao municipal local government operations office, said under the R.A. 6713, otherwise known as the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees are not allowed to enter cockpit, casino, or any gambling establishment.
As of writing, Laforteza refused to give a reaction to the charge leveled against him.
However, Narciso Chuson Jr., barangay chairman of Poblacion West, said that he already summoned Laforteza to his office to reprimand him.
“Unbecoming of an official ang ginawa ng nasa video. Para na rin niyang pinababa ang tingin sa mga opisyal”, said Geslani.
The MLGOO is currently on standby for someone to personally file the complaint because it cannot act on it without any complainant.
Geslani, however, guaranteed that Laforteza may be removed from his post if proven guilty. (Ahikam Pasion)
