Red Cross urges platelet donation amid dengue season

By August 11, 2019News, People & Events

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Pangasinan chapter is encouraging qualified blood donors to donate blood platelet because the demand is high this dengue season and supply is already running short.

An average of 50-70 patients per week need minimum of two bags and maximum of six bags of platelet concentrate.

Qualifications in donating platelet are the same as normal blood donation but the donor’s platelet count should be at least 220,000. The average platelet count of a person is between 150,000 to 400,000.
