LINGAYEN– Hundreds of police personnel assigned to the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) have already tested for illegal drugs, and so far, no one tested positive.

This was revealed by P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, provincial director, adding that the surprise random drug testing for all policemen in all local police stations will continue until all personnel have been tested.

Maranan led the surprise random drug testing to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs in Pangasinan.

“We are doing this as a part of our internal cleansing. We want the public not to fear the police, because the police are here to protect the public”, he said.

Maranan said ten policemen are randomly selected every week and ordered to proceed to PPPO and take the drug test.

He stressed that local police chiefs and officers are not exempted from taking the surprise random drug testing.

Meanwhile, Maranan urged the public not to hesitate in complaining rowdy or abusive policemen.

“We need to discipline the policemen who abuse their position, or even act rude. We do not need these kinds of people. What we need are policemen who will serve the people properly”, said Maranan.

Meanwhile, Maranan confirmed that a minor reshuffling in their ranks has taken place.

He said that some chiefs of police were  already relieved because of poor performance.

Noong dumating ako dito sa Pangasinan, hiniling ko sa lahat ng mga hepe na lalong pagbutihin ang pagsisikap na sugpuin ang krimen at pag-ibayuhin ang pagpapatupad ng batas”, he said

Maranan said the public can rest assure that their police chiefs are dedicated and committed to their duties. (Ahikam Pasion)
