THE Pangasinan Police are closely monitoring drug activities in Dagupan City, Mangaldan, Calasiao and Urdaneta City where many suspected drug pushers arrested in recent weeks were from those places.

According to P/ Major Jake Isidro, OIC at the Police Community Affairs and Development Branch (PCADB), there are strong indications that the four areas are currently the transshipment points for shabu and marijuana from the north and Metro Manila.

At the same time, the police noted that based on the arrest made, more pushers are peddling marijuana than shabu and could be an indicator that supply of shabu has decreased.

He said the police chiefs in the province are bent on accomplishing their mission to make all barangays in Pangasinan drug-cleared as ordered by P/Colonel Redrico Maranan, Pangasinan police director.

Meanwhile, PCADB reported that six barangays were reverted to drug-affected status, namely: Brgy Poblacion East in Agno, Brgy Primicias in Bautista, Brgy  Bugayong in Binalonan, Brgy San Vicente in San Jacinto, Brgys San Nicolas and San Vicente in Urdaneta City.

Twelve towns are waiting to be declared drug-cleared by the Regional Sub-committee: Infanta, Binmaley, Balungao, Pozorrubio, Asingan, Sual, Manaoag, San Fabian, Umingan, Bolinao, Bani and San Carlos City.  (Nora Dominguez)
