PWD WEEK OBSERVANCE

MALASIQUI—The Malasiqui Central School and the Malasiqui Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) distributed gifts, snacks and other treats to 57 learners with special educational needs (LNES) as part of the community relations program of the police station.

P/Lt. Col. Joseph Fajardo Jr., Malasiqui police chief, said the Malasiqui MAC, composed of representatives from the different sectors of the community, initiated the gift giving to acknowledge the importance of involving the LNES as part of the community.

“As policemen, our duty is not only to ensure peace and order and security but we also contribute to the social aspects of the community,” Fajardo said.

He added .that the activity held Wednesday was part of both the Police Community Relations (PCR) Month celebrated by the Philippine National Police and the Persons with Disabilities Week in July.

The LNES learners received coloring books, crayons, stuff toys and snacks, while policemen rendered songs during the program. The learners, meanwhile, showcased their talents and joined in some fun games.

Fajardo expressed hope that the activity will reinforce the trust of the young in their police. (Helen Martin)
