Espino orders localized suspension of classes

LINGAYEN—Gov. Amado Espino III ordered localized suspension of classes all over Pangasinan on August 2 (Friday) due to the continuing southwest monsoon rains that already submerged some roads and streets.

The governments of Sual and San Carlos City promptly ordered the suspension of classes from pre-school to high school and another from pre-school to elementary.

Classes in all levels were suspended in Infanta, Bugallon, Bani and Mabini, all located in Western Pangasinan, 

In his Memorandum No. 2019-3 as chairman of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMC), dated August 1, 2019, Espino  enjoined all mayors and school administrators of  public and private schools, to exercise discretion and judgment in suspending classes in their respective areas of jurisdictions .

Consequently, Mayors Liseldo Calugay of Sual and Julier Resuello of San Carlos City declared suspension of classes in all levels.

In Dagupan, the monsoon rains combined with high tide that rose to two meters at 10:44 a.m. inundated some low-lying streets like parts of A. B. Fernandez Avenue, Galvan, Jovellanos, Zamora, Herrero streets the premises of the city hall and other coastal barangays to the chagrin of commuters and businessmen. (Leonardo Micua)
