LINGAYEN–  The Provincial Health Office (PHO) accounted for the deaths of 10 persons due to dengue.

The youngest fatality was a four-year old girl from Barangay Unzad in Villasis, while a 90-year-old man was the eldest.

“Two fatalities have been recorded in each towns of Anda, Balungao, and San Quintin, while the towns of Bani, Bolinao, Malasiqui, and Villasis registered one fatality each”, said Dr. Ana Teresa de Guzman, provincial health officer.

A recent report from the PHO acknowledged that cases this year have so far seen a 29% percent decrease this year.

Despite the significant decrease in dengue cases, health authorities continue to urge the public to maintain clean surroundings in order to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.

Meanwhile, PHO is closely watching Bani (199 cases) San Quintin (173), and San Carlos City (161) for having the highest number of cases in the province.

De Guzman advised residents to wear long sleeves and pants as protective gear against dengue-carrying mosquitoes. (Ahikam Pasion)
