DECORP announces lower power rates

CUSTOMERS of Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP) will enjoy lower rates for this month.

Due to decrease in generation rate, July’s P5.8930 per Kilowatt hour (kWh), to this month’s PHP 5.0668 per kWh will result in a deduction of PHP 82.62. to a household that consumes 100 kWh per month.

Atty. Randy Castilan, DECORP spokesman, said the decrease was made possible by the lower charges from the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and Power Supply Agreements (PSAs).

Another PHP 0.90 per kWh decrease in October will be applied because of the R.A. 1317, commonly known as the Murang Kuryente Act, recently signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Castilan said further deduction has been identified as P.0428 for NPC stranded debts, and P0.0543 NPC contract costs – which have been strapped as burdens to all concessionaires, until RA 1317 came along.

“These costs will now be covered by revenues earned from Malampaya,”  Castilan said. (Ahikam Pasion)
