SAN FABIAN–An octogenarian burned to death in a 40-minute fire that razed her house in Barangay Poblacion, San Fabian at about 12:20 a.m. on June 25, according to the San Fabian police.

The fatality was identified as Nora Erfe, 89, a retired public school teacher. She was found trapped inside the house where she was the lone occupant.

Neighbors of the victims, including her relative Ann Erfe, 37, a resident of Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City, theorized that the fire might have been caused by a lighted candle in the altar inside the room of the victim that toppled down while she was fast asleep.

The fire spread quickly in the entire house where some combustible materials were stored.

The burnt body of the victim was found lying inside the bathroom of the house at about 1:00 a.m. (Leonardo Micua)
