LINGAYEN–The 2019 Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup will be held in Pangasinan this summer.

The Philippine Super Liga’s cup (PSL), one of the most-anticipated beach league in the country, now on its fifth edition, is about to sizzle in Pangasinan from May 16-18.

Featured volleyball teams in this edition include Petron, United VC, PLDT, Sta. Lucia, Generika Ayala, Cignal, F2 Logistics, University of Sto. Tomas (UST), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Pangasinan.

Ginio Panganiban, PSL director for beach volleyball, said this year’s event is part of the league’s development programs to further introduce and hold sports events, especially beach volleyball, in other regions of the country.

Panganiban said this year’s beach volleyball cup is only the edition that will be held out-of-town.

He said the tournament will also serve as a warm-up for the upcoming SEA Games.

“We are so thankful that the province of Pangasinan and its Provincial Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) are willing to take the challenge to make this a success,” Panganiban said.

Competing teams are expected to arrive in Pangasinan for the 15th general rehearsals at the playing venue and for the welcome dinner at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Restaurant as sponsored by the provincial government.

All teams will be staying at the NRSCC dormitory.

The main event begins on May 16 via Opening Ceremonies to be led by Governor Amado Espino III.

After the finals on May 18, celebrities from TV5 and other PSL stars will spice up the playing court at 5 p.m.

Live broadcast of matches will be up on ESPN from 2 o’clock in the afternoon until 6 o’clock in the evening.
