Ladies Beach Volleyball is becoming popular

LINGAYEN—The staging of the Ladies Beach Volleyball (LBV) held on April 27 and 28 at the Capitol beachfront as part of the annual Pista’y Dayat (Sea Festival) this year was another success, attracting more followers and fans.

 Alexis Gonzales and Lyka Aquino of Team University of Luzon emerged as champion and each went home with a trophy, a certificate, P10, 000 cash prize and earned the right to represent Pangasinan in the Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR) held on April 30 and May 1 in the same venue.

They played with the best athletes from different universities in Manila and foreign players who have competed in the professional league.

Team Sual of Tricia Abalos and Abigail De Guzman finished as 1st runner up and each received P5, 000 cash prize, a certificate and trophy.

Team Labrador National High School finished 2nd runner- up.

This is now the second year in a row that only local players and technical officials from Pangasinan joined the LBV.

This sports project through the initiative of 2nd District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil aims to harness and promote the potentials of Pangasinan athletes in beach volleyball.

The LBV is now on its ninth year as an activity of the Pista’y Dayat celebration after

Bataoil introduced Petron Beach Volleyball League for the annual sea festival for two years.

Bataoil said he will continue to support sports development programs in Lingayen town to promote the beauty of Lingayen Beach and make it as a major tourism destination in the country. (PhilStar Wire Service)
