Balon Dagupan contributes 6 gold to R1AA

BALON Dagupan athletes already contributed six of the 11 gold medals so far won by the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) as of 5:25 p.m. on May 2 in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa now being played in Davao City.

Of the six gold medals won by the Balon Dagupan athletes, five were earned in gymnastics for boys, while another one in swimming.

Gymnast Mark Tyrone B. Reyes of JCCI Christian Academy in Dagupan City, won four gold medals in different events in one day (May 2) in addition to one silver in one event.

Reyes won the gold medals in mushroom, vault, individual all-around and team all-around exercises. His lone silver medal was in the bars.

His teammate Marvin Lunaria of the Victoria Zarate Elementary School won the gold in the Team All-Around exercise.

Meanwhile, Janelle Alisa Frances Lin, a student of the Genesis School in Dagupan, won the gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle but settled for silver in 800-meter freestyle and bronze in the 100-meter freestyle.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Lin is coached by Jefferson Lao.

The Dagupan City Sports Commission thanked Mayor Belen Fernandez for her full continued support to the Balon Dagupan Athletes from the 2019 Regional Athletic Association Meet to the 2019 Palarong Pambansa.

As of 5:25 p.m. May 2, R1AA was in 8th place with 11 gold, seven silver and 12 bronze medals. The National Capital Region remains on top. (Leonardo Micua)
