3 foreign students arrested for possessing marijuana

SAN CARLOS CITY–Two Pakistani nationals and one Palestinian were arrested by joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) provincial office and the San Carlos City Police for possessing dried marijuana mixed with tobacco cigarettes on May 20 in Barangay Palaris.

Arrested were Afgad Aslam Chaudhry and Muhammad Daim, both Pakistanis; and Aref Tayseer Aref Abdalghany, a Palestinian. All a three are enrolled in a local university.

Confiscated from them were one Marlboro Red box and two Marlboro cigarette sticks containing suspected dried marijuana leaves mixed with tobacco, one black lighter labeled and one self-sealing plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves and two partly-consumed Marlboro cigarette sticks actually containing dried marijuana leaves mixed with tobacco.

 Cases for violation of Sections 11 and 15 Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 were filed against the suspects.

The suspects were subjects of casing and surveillance operations by the police.

In Urdaneta City, Percilo Tan, alias “Akong”, 34, a bouncer of a KTV Bar in Barangay Nancayasan was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation at about 12:30 a.m. on May 21.

He sold one sachet of shabu to two undercover policemen for P500.  

Tan was a newly identified drug personality in Urdaneta. A case for violation of R.A. 9165 was filed against him.  (Leonardo Micua)
