Security to be tightened in Bangus Festival

SECURITY plans are already in place for the 2019 Bangus Festival which is again expected to draw millions of spectators from various parts of the country.

This was revealed by P/Lt. Colonel Jandale Sulit, Dagupan police chief, who said last year’s plans that managed the attendance of over a million during the Bangusan Street Party will be calibrated further to meet new challenges.

Last year, 150 policemen were deployed, many of whom were provided by adjacent police stations to secure all events in the Bangus Festival, especially the Bangusan Street Party.

“We will ask the Police Provincial Office to assign more to beef up the local police force, especially during the Bangusan Street Party, ” Sulit said.

Sulit said that notwithstanding the reduced activities in this year’s Bangus Festival, the police will have no reason to relax their guard to ensure that no untoward incident will happen.

Noting that the Bangus Festival is only few days away before the election, Sulit called on the public to cooperate with the police to foil any attempt to disrupt the peace in the Bangus Festival. (Leonardo Micua)
