SAN CARLOS CITY–A policeman on vacation was gunned down and killed in front of his home in Barangay Mabalbalino here at about 4:30 p.m. on April 9.    

The victim was identified as P/Cpl Rogeron Ramirez, 39, who was detailed at the Chaplain Service of Police Regional Office 1 at Camp General Oscar Florendo in San Fernando City, La Union.

Ramirez was standing in front of his house when shot from behind by Jose de Guzman, 59; and Diosdado Castro, 55, both barangay kagawad of Mabalbalino.

The suspects, who used a shot gun, identified by the victim’s common-law wife, were arrested by the police at about 7:00 p.m. Both are now detained at the San Carlos City Police jail.   

Ramirez suffered five gunshot wounds in his body and was rushed to the Virgen Milagrosa Medical Center and later transferred to the Villaflor Memorial Medical Center in Dagupan where he died at past 10 p.m.  

Grudge was tagged as the motive behind the shooting. (Leonardo Micua)
