City holds 2nd Kite Flying competition

DAGUPENOS and tourists flocked to Tondaligan Blue Beach in Barangay Bonuan Gueset on April 6 to witness the second Kite Flying Competition as part of the month-long Bangus Festival 2019.

The Tondaligan sky was filled with colors as kites of 48 participants from different places like Bacolod, Laguna, Batangas, Caloocan, Pampanga, Baguio, Alaminos, Binmaley and Lingayen showcased their various kite creations.

With no restrictions on size, participants were encouraged to be creative under the theme of “Bangus Festival 2019, the Happiest Fish Fest Ever!” in three categories: open kite, flat kite and three-dimension.

The kites were judged on their ability to fly, creativity, relevance to the theme, kite construction materials, audience impact.

Special awards such as People’s Choice, Local Kite Maker’s Choice were also given to chosen participants.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez said activities such as the Windsurfing Clinic and Kite Flying Competition serve as opportunities to help in promoting not just the annual festival, but also the beauty and revitalization of the Tondaligan Beach.
