Sunday PUNCH sweeps 3rd Aninaw Media Awards

THE Sunday Punch again swept all the 10 awards under the print media category in the 3rd Aninaw Media Awards sponsored by the PHINMA University of Pangasinan’s Communication  Arts Department.

 The SUNDAY PUNCH, with Ermin Garcia Jr. as editor-publisher, was also adjudged as Best Community Paper and  Most Popular Community Paper from among 24 news publications in Pangasinan.

The individual awardees from THE PUNCH are Leonardo Micua as Journalist of the Year  (male category) and Best Feature Writer;  Eva Visperas as  Journalist of the Year (female category)and  Best News Writer, Ermin Garcia Jr. as Best Editorial Writer; Jesus Garcia Jr. as  Best Sports Writer; Willie Lomibao as Best Photojournalist, and Virgilio Biagtan as Best Editorial Cartoonist.

Held at Binmaley Technology Resource Center in Binmaley last Thursday, March 7, the awardees, including those from the broadcast media and television, were carefully selected  by a panel of judges, of which 50 percent came from the ranks of students in communication arts and 50 percent from the faculty.

A forum on Crime Reporting as well as on Political Reporting and Social Media was held in the same venue in the morning of that day, graced by Guz Abelgas, host of  ABS-CBN’s program SOCO and Mark Espinoza, former KBP president.

In the Broadcast category, the awardees are Violeta Valdez Ferrer of Aksyon Radyo, Best AM Radio Anchor; “Aksyon Radyo Balita” of Aksyon Radyo, Best AM Radio Program; DJ Chocolee of MOR Radio Dagupan, Best FM Radio DJ (male); and Jesella Ann Garcia, aka “Ella Lambangera” ofm104.7 iFM Dagupan, Best FM Radio DJ (female); and “Afternoon Star
Sweep” of Star FM Dagupan, Best FM Radio Program

In  television, adjudged as Most Outstanding News Presenter of the Year (Male) was CJ Torida of GMA Regional TV Dagupan; Torida was also named Most Popular TV Personality of the Year,

GMA Regional TV Dagupan’s Jasmin Gabriel Galban was adjudged the Most Outstanding News Presenter of the Year (Female) and Russ Simorio, as the Best Field Reporter of the Year (Male).

ABS-CBN TV 32’s Joana Tacason, was adjudged, as Best Field Reporter of the Year (Female).

Also adjudged as Best Morning Show Program was “Bagong Morning Kapamilya” of ABS-CBN TV 32.  (Leonardo Micua)
