SURPRISE RANDOM TEST

LINGAYEN—One of 300 employees of the General Service Office (GSO) of the provincial government was found positive of illegal drugs following a surprise mandatory drug testing conducted last March 22.

The surprise random drug testing was ordered by Gov. Amado Espino III as a show of support to the campaign against illegal drugs by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The random drug testing came in the heels of the disclosure of the President of names of so-called Narco Politicians, one of whom is from Pangasinan.

Dr. Ana de Guzman, provincial health officer, said the name of the employee found positive of illegal drugs was withheld but he was later identified as a job order employee.

This was the second random drug testing conducted in a provincial agency since 2016 pursuant to Gov. Espino’s Executive Order No. 84 on July 27, 2016 and a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on August 2, 2016.

General Service Officer Evan Gladish Domalanta welcomed the random drug testing as a way of ensuring the integrity of provincial government workers.

The specimen of the employee was submitted to drug testing labora-tory in Dagupan accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) and if validated to be positive, it will be forwarded to the DOH and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Manila for final testing.

Dr. De Guzman said more surprise random drug tests will be conducted in other provincial government offices. (Leonardo Micua)
