THE party-list Inang Mahal will push for the approval of the Magna Carta of Mothers in order to address the problems and interest of mothers, concerning  their livelihood, jobs,
protection from abuse and health.

This was stressed by former Fourth District Rep. Gina de Vernecia, the number one nominee of the Inang Mahal party-list, in a talk to women of Bayambang recently.

“When we say mother, I refer to all mothers,” said. De  Venecia, wife of former five-time Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. and mother of Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia, and went to clarify that in today’s context, the word mother does not only connote female sex as the word (mother) has now an expanded meaning.

“There is the father who also do the chores of the mother sometimes, the gays and transgenders who also care for their children, our elder sisters and brothers who perform the role of mothers to their younger siblings and of course our biological mothers,” De
Venecia said.

De Venecia said Inang Mahal party-list will articulate mothers’ cause and act as their voice in Congress.

But she clarified that her name will not be in the ballot but rather the #69 assigned to it by the Comelec. She said this is no problem because #69 is a popular number, thus is easy to remember,” she quipped.

Inang Mahal, she explained, can be entitled to have three representatives in Congress if it will garner the biggest number of votes among the party-lists to be voted.

“With mother’s love, nothing is impossible in this world… With mothers, we all have a better life,” she stressed. (Leonardo Micua)
