Ex-drug surrenderer shot dead in Bayambang

BAYAMBANG–A former drug surrenderer and a suspect in the killing of a person in Cabanatuan City in 2016 was shot dead by unidentified suspects while he was driving a motorbike in Barangay Taracatac here at around 8:50  p.m. on February 20.

The  victim was identified as Christopher Agbuya, 34, an onion dealer who is a resident of Brgy. Hermoza here. He sustained  several gunshot wounds in the body and was rushed to the Bayambang District Hospital where he  was declared dead on arrival.

It was learned that Agbuya’s fellow suspect in the Cabanatuan killing, Zaldy Patricio, also of Hermoza, Bayambang, was killed by an identified suspects in Nueva Ecija also sometime in 2016.

Investigation in the slaying of Agbuya showed that at the time of the shooting, the victim was with his lone companion, identified as Jeffrey Camorongan, 37, who was driving in another motorcycle.

Both were riding side by side headed towards the west direction when they chanced upon a slow-moving tricycle which they both overtook.

The tricycle followed and when they were closed behind, they opened fire, hitting Agbuya in different parts of his body. Camorongan managed to escape unhurt.

Initial investigation revealed there may be two gunmen, not only one, involved in the shooting following the recovery of  four spent shells for Caliber. 5.56 and three spent shells for Cal. 45 and two deformed slug for Cal.45 from the crime scene. (Leonardo Micua)
