Bullying never an isolated incident

PUNCH FORUM

It’s mind-boggling!

An educator worth his salt should have refrained from calling the bullying incident that took place in his school an “isolated incident”.

It’s the last recourse concocted by no less than Principal Leo Blaquir of the Mangaldan National High School to extricate himself from any responsibility on the death of his two students who are victims of bullying.

        It’s a foolish alibi.

The bullying reflects the management style of Blaquir. Rather than take full responsibility, he still have the temerity to call it an “isolated incident”.

It’s a lame excuse that will turn-off the heads of the top honchos of the Department of Education.

The unfortunate incident raises the suspicion that security protocol is not in placed. It may look obvious also that preventive measures – if there is any – are ineffective.

It virtually exposes Blaquir’s built-in weakness in managing the biggest secondary school in Pangasinan in terms of student population.

The death of the duo is not an ordinary misdemeanor but a very serious felony considering that it took place in the school where good manners and right conduct are taught.

A criminal case has been filed against the student-perpetrators. The school and Blaquir who was reportedly relieved from his post are not off-the-hook yet with the latter as a witness or an accessory.

Civility inside the classrooms is never a sign of goodwill among troublesome students.

Blaquir should not be told about it as he is a doctoral degree holder.
