Asingan, Calasiao enter quarterfinals

3rd INTER-TOWN/CITY BASKETBALL

LINGAYEN–  The teams of Asingan and Calasiao led in the wild card match-ups that assured them of hard-earned spots in the upcoming quarterfinals of the 3rd Governor’s Cup Inter-Town/City Basketball Tournament.

With their unblemished win-loss status 3-0, Teams Asingan and TCalasiao secured their spots for eastern conference and central conference, respectively.

Asingan cagers displayed their enduring offense and solid defense against San Nicolas throughout the game, 103-79, on February 9 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Gymnasium.

Asingan earlier subdued Villasis, 125-99, on February 2 and toppled Alcala in a close match, 110-102 on February 3.

Calasiao cagers were victorious against their nemesis San Carlos City via a  lopsided game, 100-75, on February 10.

Earlier, Team Calasiao won against last season’s second runner-up, Binmaley, 76-72, on February 2 and waylaid Sta. Barbara in a lopsided game, 84-72, on February 3.

Based on the results of the elimination rounds and wild card games, the top five teams of Central Conference: Manaoag, Bayambang, Mangaldan, Malasiqui  and Calasiao;
Eastern Conference:. Urdaneta City, Sto. Tomas, Bautista, Tayug and Asingan
Western Conference: Lingayen, Sual Alaminos City and Aguilar (The last qualifying team in the western conference will still be determined). (PIO/ SMDG)
